Named "Fei Choon Kwan" the clinic was established in 1890 at Heng Street (火城横街). Subsequently, the size of the clinic was not enough to cope with the demand, and the clinic moved several times through the pooling of resources from its directors. In 1981, the Members’ General Meeting approved the setting up of the Re-developmental committee of the "Fei Choon Kwan". The building at the current location at No 363 Balestier Road was purchased in 1919, and was renamed "Char Yong Fei Choon Hospital ". On 8 September 1991, then Minister of Health Dr Aline Wong was invited to officiate at the opening ceremony. The building is currently leased to ParkwayHealth Day Surgery & Medical Centre.
